About Spa Communications
We are an award-winning PR, podcasting, social media and creative marketing agency based in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.
We work with some of the most exciting businesses in AI, data centres, renewables and sustainable technologies, helping them tell stories that inspire change and drive impact.
We’re looking for a creative, organised, and enthusiastic PR and Social Media Executive to join our growing team — someone keen to develop their skills, support client campaigns, and build a strong career in PR, social and integrated communications.
The Role
As an Account Executive, you will support the delivery of integrated communications activity across client accounts. Your work would include content creation, media relations, social media management, reporting, account coordination and campaign delivery.
This is a broad, hands-on agency role. The balance of responsibilities will vary according to client priorities, campaign schedules, deadlines and the needs of the wider team. At different times, the role may be weighted more heavily towards a particular area, and you will be expected to apply your skills flexibly where they are most needed.
You will work with and support colleagues across one of our key B2B technology accounts, taking ownership of assigned tasks and balancing your workload in line with deadlines, account priorities and campaign schedules.
As a member of the Spa team, you will quickly gain experience across a range of communications activities within a highly specialised and growing B2B technology agency, working in a friendly, collaborative and results-driven environment.
Core responsibilities
- To draft press releases, news stories, articles, and product announcements
- To network with and build relationships with journalists, influencers, and analysts
- To regularly pitch press releases and article ideas by phone or email
- To distribute press releases via Newswires
- To respond to inbound queries and emails from journalists
- To help secure interviews and editorial meetings with key journalists for the client’s spokespeople - in person or over the phone - and facilitate, where appropriate
- To join the client and team members at industry events
- To plan content using Google Docs and Excel and manage delivery
- To monitor media coverage and report results to both the wider team and client
- To regularly liaise with the client and team members via telephone, email, conference calls or face-to-face
- To support social media campaigns that increase brand awareness and engagement
- To facilitate social media communities, responding to posts and developing discussions
- To help create and deliver reports detailing traffic, engagement and follower growth
- To contribute fresh ideas for social content and channel activity
- To monitor and report on performance
Key skills
- English language fluency
- Copywriting: You must have an excellent grasp of spelling, grammar and proofreading, as well as creative flair for producing engaging content with a technology focus.
- Communication: From sharing ideas with the team to pitching stories to journalists, you need to organise information clearly, succinctly and persuasively for different audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills: Agency communications is people-focused, so you need to be approachable, friendly and empathetic whether you are communicating by phone, email, video call or in person. You should be able to build effective relationships with colleagues, clients, journalists, influencers and other stakeholders.
- Organisation and time management: You will often work across competing deadlines and changing account priorities, so you need to plan, adapt and deliver quickly without compromising on quality.
- Resilience: You need to be willing to pick up the phone to journalists, respond constructively to feedback and handle occasional rejection. Confidence in these areas will build with time, support and practice.
- Software: You’ll need working knowledge of Google Workspace and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, to produce client content, presentations and reports. Familiarity with social media management and reporting tools is also useful.
