Account Executive (Account Management & New Business Development), Finance and Facilities

This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with a minimum of three (3) days in-office based out of our West Sacramento office and two (2) days working remotely. The Account Executive works in a hybrid environment and travels throughout California based on assignment or organizational need(s).

Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Account Executive to join our Business Development team in a hybrid environment focused on expanding CSBA’s affiliate client base and retaining and growing existing accounts by uncovering sponsorship opportunities for CSBA calendared events. Reporting to the Senior Director, Business Development, this position is ideal for a sales-focused professional who thrives in relationship management and new client acquisition, with a consultative sales approach and a passion for serving the education sector.

The Account Executive serves in a dual-capacity growth role responsible for expanding CSBA’s affiliate network and strategically managing an assigned book of business. This position drives new business acquisition by identifying, prospecting, and securing new affiliate partnerships, while simultaneously cultivating and growing existing accounts to maximize engagement, retention, and revenue.

This role involves developing and executing strategic sales and marketing plans to generate new opportunities overseen by the Senior Director, Business Development, uncover expansion potential within current relationships, and close high-impact partnerships. The Account Executive builds and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders, delivers professional presentations, and ensures exceptional service across all clients and affiliate touchpoints.

In addition, this role contributes to revenue forecasting, collaborates cross-functionally to support marketing and growth initiatives, and represents CSBA at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to actively generate new leads and strengthen existing partnerships.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary point of contact for existing accounts to ensure retention and satisfaction.
  • Proactively identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities within the current client base.
  • Conduct quarterly business reviews and strategic planning meetings with clients.
  • Customize program-specific deliverables to meet client goals and drive engagement.
  • Maintain deep understanding of client needs and communicate feedback to internal teams for product and service enhancements.
  • Collaborate with leadership to refine product positioning and go-to-market strategies.
  • Track sales performance and contribute to sales forecasting and pipeline management.
  • Create customized proposals, presentations, and marketing collateral tailored to client segments.
  • Participate in the development of marketing strategies to drive client engagement and retention.
  • Manages client relationships, client generation and sales utilizing consultative selling skills with a customer-centric mindset.
  • Prepare sales reports regarding sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed expansion.
  • Represent organization at association meetings, conferences, trade shows and promote products, services and programs, and maintains product booths.
  • Educate membership and new business prospects about products, services and programs.
  • Promote and market CSBA products, programs and services.
  • Address concerns, inquiries or complaints in a professional manner; research information identify and report findings and take appropriate action to ensure an expedient and satisfactory resolution.
  • Maintain and cultivate positive relationships with Association members and clients to ensure satisfaction, implementation, user training and product development through information gathering.
  • Coordinate formatting and customizing content for program-specific correspondence, forms, reports, presentations, marketing collateral and manuals.
  • Travel throughout California to attend client meetings and trade shows, which may require an overnight stay.
  • Perform administrative assignments and work on special projects related to assigned areas area of responsibility; maintain accurate and detailed department-specific records, schedules, reports, files, plans, databases and other operation and/or confidential information.
  • Perform a variety of administrative, analytical and customer support activities for CSBA programs, services and technologies at an expert level.
  • Utilize modern office practices, methods, computer equipment, and computer applications related to the work.
  • Read and demonstrate an understanding and adherence to CSBA values, policies and practices.
  • Demonstrate respect, honesty, and professionalism at all times.
  • Adhere to an established work schedule and the organization’s timekeeping practices.
  • Limited vacation during peak periods
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher with major coursework with at least five (5) years of experience performing business sales and marketing tasks and supporting management in related field.

Knowledge of

  • Consultative selling skills and strategic sales techniques with a customer-centric mindset.

Environmental Elements & Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds, hand truck available to assist.
  • Ability to sit at computer for long periods of time and have the dexterity to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator, and operate standard office equipment.
  • Employees are personally responsible for following health and safety guidelines, instructions and policies.
  • Possession of, or ability to, obtain a valid California Driver’s license by time of appointment.

  • CSBA offers a hybrid work schedule, with a minimum of three (3) days in-office based out of our West Sacramento office and two (2) days working remotely.
  • Paid Time Off:
    • Vacation: Accrues 10 days annually for hourly employees and 15 days annually for salary employees. The rate at which you accrue will increase annually with years of service.
    • Floating holidays: 32 hours annually accrue date of hire.
    • Separate sick leave accrual: 8 hours accrued monthly.
    • Holiday: 10 CSBA recognized holidays annually
    • December Office Closure: During the latter part of December each year CSBA closes its office. During this time, employees are paid for 6 days in addition to the December 25 and January 1 holiday.
    • Sabbatical Program: Employees with at least seven (7) years of continuous full-time employment in their current period of service are eligible for up to four (4) weeks of paid leave.
  • Membership in the CalPERS retirement system:
    • Classic membership tier (2% @ 55; 7% employee contribution and 11.54% employer contribution)
