Job Summary:
An Account Executive - Brokerage will be responsible for identifying and securing new shipper accounts, generating revenue, and fostering strong client relationships. You will be able to prospect, run discovery, close, and partner with our operations team to execute on-time, in-full (OTIF) performance.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Prospect & Build Pipeline: Identify and qualify shipper opportunities via outbound calls, email, LinkedIn conferences and internal cross selling with our Managed Transportation sales team
Discovery & Solutioning: Uncover shipment profiles (lanes, modes, accessorials, seasonality, service needs); map decision process and sales timeline.
Pricing & Bids: Work with operations to develop spot and contract rates, mini-bids, and RFP/RFQ responses; negotiate terms that balance win rate and target GP%.
Close & Onboard: Secure trial loads/new logos; coordinate onboarding (credit, EDI/API, portals, SOPs) with ops and finance.
Account Management: Grow wallet share through lane expansion, quarterly business reviews (QBRs), and proactive regular follow up calls to ensure customer satisfaction.
Revenue & Margin Ownership: Hit weekly activity goals and monthly GP targets; track and manage margin leakage.
Cross-Functional Partnerships: Work hand-in-glove with carrier sales/ops for coverage, service, and continuous improvement. You will also be closely aligned with our Managed Transportation sales team, working to identify cross selling opportunities and strategies.
CRM & Additional Tools: Maintain accurate pipeline stages, next steps, and win/loss notes in CRM. You will also utilize our sales tech stack of resources to accelerate your outreach and growth.
Market Intelligence: Monitor TL capacity, diesel/fuel, seasonality, and customer forecasts to anticipate pricing and service needs.

Required Skills/Abilities:
Proven track record closing new shipper accounts.
Working knowledge of spot vs. contract pricing, mini-bids, and margin management.
Comfortable using TMS and CRM.
Strong communication, negotiation, and follow-through can run crisp discovery and close.
Excel/Sheets proficiency for lane analysis and bid templates, a plus.
Familiar with Managed Transportation Services preferred.
Familiarity with EDI/API connections, customer portals, and basic freight claims workflow preferred.
Book of business you can legally develop (no restrictive covenants) preferred.
Education and Experience:
Degree not required, with relevant work experience
1+ years of freight brokerage sales experience (truckload focus preferred).
Consistent 20-30+ outbound sales calls per day
Physical Requirements:
Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate a keyboard and other office equipment, use a telephone, access file cabinets and other items stored at various levels, including overhead
Ability to speak and hear well enough to communicate clearly and understandably with sufficient volume to ensure an accurate exchange of information in normal conversational distance, over the telephone, and in a group setting
Ability to continuously operate a personal computer for extended periods of time (4 or more hours)
Mental acuity sufficient to collect and interpret data, evaluate, reason, define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, make valid judgments and decisions
Up to 10–20% for customer visits, QBRs, and trade events (as needed).
