Account Executive - Thatcher+Co. - Salt Lake City, UT (hybrid)

About Thatcher+Co.

Thatcher+Co. is a strategic communications firm built for clients who refuse to settle for bloated retainers and buried accountability. We bring senior-level talent to every engagement, from Fortune 100 organizations and government entities to high-growth startups and leading nonprofits. Our model is deliberately lean: every team member, regardless of title, does meaningful client work from day one. The result is long-term client partnerships grounded in trust, speed and measurable outcomes.

We are headquartered in New York City with an office in Salt Lake City.

The Role:

Thatcher+Co. is looking for an Account Executive to join our Salt Lake City team. This is a generalist PR role with a heavy emphasis on media relations and outreach, plus meaningful involvement in research, writing and project management across multiple client accounts. The AE will work closely with the SLC Integrated Account Director and senior account leads, serving as a reliable day-to-day driver on client work - someone who can pitch a story in the morning, turn a polished press release by lunch and keep a project tracker humming by end of day.

Key Responsibilities

Media Relations & Outreach

  • Research, build and maintain targeted media lists using current PR tools and databases.
  • Develop compelling story angles and pitch journalists across local, national, trade and digital outlets.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with reporters, editors and producers on behalf of clients.
  • Monitor, track and report on media coverage and campaign results.
  • Support on-site events, coordinating interviews between media and spokespeople

Writing & Content

  • Draft and edit press releases, media pitches, talking points, briefing documents, bylined articles and client-facing reports.
  • Contribute to thought-leadership content, blog posts, and social media copy as needed.
  • Ensure all written work is accurate, on-brand, and delivered on deadline

Research & Strategy Support

  • Conduct background research on industries, competitors and media landscapes to inform client strategy.
  • Identify trending topics, news hooks and editorial opportunities for proactive outreach.
  • Assist in developing communications plans and campaign strategies in collaboration with senior staff.

Project Management & Client Service

  • Support day-to-day management of multiple client accounts, keeping tasks, timelines and deliverables organized.
  • Prepare agendas, status updates and recap notes for client calls and meetings.
  • Coordinate across internal teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Contribute to new business research and proposal development as opportunities arise.

What to Know About the Schedule

This role follows a hybrid schedule with at least two days per week in our Salt Lake City office. Several of our clients run high-profile seasonal campaigns that peak during the fall and winter months (approximately September through January). During these windows, the pace picks up and the team rallies - you should expect some non-traditional hours, including occasional weekend work around key launch dates. In particular, availability during the Thanksgiving holiday week and the week following is important. If you thrive in environments where the energy spikes around big moments, you'll love this part of the year.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in a PR agency setting.
  • Demonstrated success pitching and placing stories with media.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills across a range of PR formats.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities - comfortable juggling multiple accounts and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with media databases and monitoring tools (e.g., Muck Rack, Cision, Meltwater, or similar).
  • A collaborative, team-first attitude and proactive work ethic.
  • Willingness and availability to work non-traditional hours during peak campaign seasons, including around the Thanksgiving holiday (see schedule details above).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working across a variety of industries or client types (generalist background).
  • Comfort with social media strategy and content creation.
  • Experience with project management tools (Monday.com, Asana, Basecamp, etc.).

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to work with a dedicated team of talented PR industry leaders and rising stars and service fabulous clients across a range of industries
  • Hybrid work arrangement, partially in office and partially remote work
  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits
  • 401K with employer match and immediate vesting
  • Generous paid sick and vacation and paid holidays
