Account Manager

Employment Type: Salary + Commission

Note: This is a sales position requiring 2+ years of sales experience and an existing book of business . Compensation includes a salary and commission structure.


Account Manager – Logistics

The Account Manager is responsible for generating new sales activity and managing the day-to-day freight operations for assigned shipments and customer accounts. This role plays a critical part in delivering high-quality service, fostering strong customer relationships, supporting team performance, and contributing to a positive branch culture.

Success in this position requires driving new business, maintaining customer trust, and consistently producing strong revenue and profit results to support annual branch goals. Responsibilities include freight sales, spot pricing, carrier negotiation, and operational support.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop new customer sales
  • Use various prospecting methods to generate new leads and solicit freight
  • Build and maintain long-term customer relationships and encourage account growth
  • Provide cost-effective logistics solutions that retain customers
  • Manage brokerage and customer service aspects of assigned shipments/accounts
  • Communicate effectively with customers, carriers, and internal teams
  • Assist customers with pricing, operations, and payment-related inquiries
  • Handle spot pricing and negotiate carrier rates
  • Support operations staff and internal departments
  • Conduct on-site customer visits as needed
  • Work closely with transportation coordinators to support brokering and provide feedback
  • Engage in carrier negotiations, spot pricing, RFPs (Request for Pricing), and RFIs (Request for Information)


Qualifications / Skills & Abilities

To perform this role successfully, the individual should demonstrate the following:

  • 2 years of brokerage operations experience preferred
  • Transportation or supply chain experience preferred
  • Sales training, business development knowledge, and understanding of highway services
  • Strong organization, communication, conflict resolution, and time-management skills
  • Basic computer proficiency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, 10-Key, Data Entry)
  • Familiarity with RMIS recommended
  • Experience with TMS (Transportation Management Systems) recommended
  • Ability to work well with others and positively influence co-workers
  • Professional phone and email communication skills
  • Ability to multitask with frequent interruptions
  • Strong customer service skills for both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to prepare written reports, business correspondence, and presentations
  • Ability to interpret written, verbal, diagrammed, or scheduled instructions
  • Capable of working independently and making decisions with limited supervision


Work Environment

Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting with frequent interaction with team members, customers, and vendors. The environment may involve frequent interruptions. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
