Accountant

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP, and have experience in both corporate and non-profit accounting environments. This role involves managing financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The Accountant will play a crucial role in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting to support the organization's financial health.

Duties

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.
• Perform account reconciliations, ensuring all financial data is accurate and up-to-date.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing and payment tracking.
• Conduct financial analysis and cash flow analysis to inform strategic decision-making.
• Oversee payroll processing and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
• Assist in the preparation of regulatory reports and ensure adherence to SOX compliance.
• Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Quicken, PeopleSoft, Sage, or Xero for efficient financial management.
• Mentor junior accounting staff and provide guidance on best practices in accounting.
• Prepare for audits by gathering necessary documentation and supporting materials.
• Collaborate with other departments to support budgeting processes and financial planning initiatives.

Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required; CPA certification is a plus.
• Proven experience in corporate accounting, public accounting, or non-profit accounting environments.
• Strong knowledge of financial concepts including double entry bookkeeping, accrual accounting, and general ledger accounting.
• Familiarity with securities law, governmental accounting, wills, trusts & estate law is advantageous.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial report writing and data analysis.
• Experience with financial software for reporting purposes; familiarity with technical accounting standards is preferred.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data effectively.
