Role Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join our Finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, tax laws, and regulatory compliance. As an Accountant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing tax filings, and ensuring compliance with GST and other tax obligations. You will be responsible for handling day-to-day accounting activities, including the preparation and filing of GST returns, tax calculations, and assisting with audits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounting & Bookkeeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including ledgers, journals, and balance sheets.
- Process and reconcile bank statements, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review.
- GST Return Filing & Compliance:
- Ensure timely filing of GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9, and other applicable forms) in compliance with Indian GST laws.
- Reconcile GST payments and input tax credit (ITC) claims with purchase and sales invoices.
- Ensure proper documentation and reporting of GST-related transactions.
- Stay updated on changes in GST regulations and assist in adapting accounting practices accordingly.
- Tax Filing & Compliance:
- Prepare and file Income Tax Returns (ITR) for the organization, ensuring timely submission.
- Assist in the calculation of advance tax and TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) payments.
- Coordinate with external tax consultants and auditors to ensure full compliance with tax regulations.
- Month-End & Year-End Closing:
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements) in accordance with accounting standards.
- Bank & Cash Reconciliation:
- Perform regular bank reconciliations and cash flow monitoring.
- Ensure all discrepancies are investigated and resolved promptly.
- Other Duties:
- Maintain proper filing and documentation of all accounting and tax-related records.
- Liaise with government authorities regarding tax audits, assessments, and any other compliance matters.
- Provide support in financial forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications like CA (Chartered Accountant), CMA (Cost Management Accountant), or CPA (Certified Public Accountant) will be an advantage.
- Experience:
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in accounting and tax-related roles, preferably in an Indian business context.
- Proven experience in handling GST returns and Income Tax filing.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Zoho Books, Busy, Tally) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong knowledge of GST laws, Income Tax provisions, and general accounting principles.
- Soft Skills:
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in financial reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
