Full job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with exposure to the automobile or pre-owned car industry to manage accounting operations and support financial planning, budgeting, and cost control. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring statutory compliance, monitoring vehicle inventory accounting, and providing financial insights to support management decision-making and business growth.

Key Responsibilities:Accounting & Finance Operations

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting activities including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and cash flow management.
  • Maintain accurate vehicle-wise inventory accounting including purchase cost, refurbishment cost, and sale margins.
  • Monitor vehicle purchase entries, vendor payments, customer receipts, and finance/loan settlements.
  • Ensure accurate and timely finalization of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Reconcile vehicle stock with physical inventory and sales records.

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Prepare annual budgets, forecasts, and periodic financial plans in coordination with management.
  • Analyze gross margins per vehicle and overall dealership profitability.
  • Monitor budget vs actual performance and identify cost-control opportunities.
  • Conduct cost analysis for refurbishment, marketing expenses, commissions, and operational overheads.
  • Provide financial insights to support pricing strategies and expansion decisions.

Statutory & Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with GST, TDS, Income Tax, and other applicable regulations.
  • Manage documentation related to RTO transfers, hypothecation closures, and vehicle registration accounting.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and address audit observations.
  • Ensure adherence to accounting standards and dealership policies.

Reporting & Controls

  • Prepare MIS reports including vehicle aging reports, stock turnover reports, sales performance reports, and cash flow statements.
  • Develop internal controls to safeguard inventory and prevent financial discrepancies.
  • Monitor receivables, pending finance disbursements, and outstanding vendor payments.
  • Support process improvements and automation in finance operations.

Team Coordination & Support

  • Coordinate with sales, procurement, operations, and marketing teams for financial matters.
  • Support management with real-time financial data for decision-making.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience in inventory accounting and dealership accounting practices.
  • Strong analytical, budgeting, and financial planning skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of GST and taxation related to automobile trade.
  • Attention to detail with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Good communication and leadership skills.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Experience in a multi-branch automobile dealership.
  • Understanding of vehicle finance, bank/NBFC coordination, and commission structures.
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strategic mindset with focus on profitability and working capital management.

Job Type:

Full-time, Permanent

Salary:

Up to ₹20,000.00 per month

Experience Required:

Automobile / Pre-Owned Car Industry: Minimum 3 years (Required)
