<Responsibilities>
- Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory standards.
- Conduct detailed account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations, general ledger reconciliation, and account analysis to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Perform journal entries, double entry bookkeeping, and accrual accounting to maintain precise financial records.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial management activities by analyzing financial data and preparing reports.
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and supporting audit procedures.
- Maintain compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and other regulatory requirements related to financial reporting.
- Utilize various accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms to facilitate efficient bookkeeping and reporting.
- Contribute to the development of internal controls and process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency in financial operations.
- Support special projects related to governmental accounting, non-profit accounting (including LIHTC - Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), or securities law compliance as needed.
<Qualifications>
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.
- Proven experience in corporate accounting, public accounting, or governmental accounting environments.
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles, technical accounting standards, and financial concepts such as debits & credits, balance sheet reconciliation, and journal entries.
- Proficiency with accounting software including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft or similar platforms; advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are essential.
- Knowledge of SOX compliance requirements and experience with regulatory reporting processes.
- Familiarity with non-profit accounting practices and LIHTC programs is a plus.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial reports accurately.
- Ability to mentor junior team members while fostering a collaborative team environment.
