Summary of Position
Responsible for timely and accurate accounting for center/headquarter accounting and administrative accounting functions: Managing bank relationships, wire transfers, maintaining financial related work sheets, filing state registrations, managing record keeping, and various related projects and duties.
Essential Job Responsibilities & Duties:
1. Preparation of foreign Centers and Headquarters accounting in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
Recording of monthly accounting transactions.
Review and adjustment of general ledger coding of Center expenses and revenues in accordance with IES policy, and budget.
Make necessary accruals of liabilities and assets.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts, and perform analyses of income and expense.
2. Coordinate and work with appropriate Center staff to ensure agreement, understanding and correction of submitted monthly accounting activity.
Train foreign and domestic staff in the preparation and recording of financial transactions. Much of the foreign staff are non-accountants. They need oversight of their financial work to insure accuracy and timeliness in recording transactions.
3. Prepare, conduct, and report on internal audits of Centers and Chicago.
4. Identify and make recommendations for improvements in internal controls.
5. Analyze financial results with prior period actual results and budgets. Assist managers with the preparation and revision of budget/forecasts.
6. Responds to inquiries from independent auditors: Provide analyses and prepare reports and requested.
7. Assist Accounting Management in the management and reporting of the following:
Company-wide cash movement:
Prepare consolidated report of cash payments to foreign Centers.
Maintain calendar for timely payments to Centers.
Prepare a spreadsheet of foreign currency cash needs for Centers.
Prepare and record electronic bank transfers to Centers.
Maintain logs and records of wires.
Respond to Center special requests for funds.
Make electronic transfers to foreign centers and post in accounting software.
Assist Controller and Accounting Director in daily monitoring of IES cash accounts.
Maintain spreadsheet of foreign currency purchases:
Record foreign currency trades conducted by VPF.
Maintain schedule of payments for foreign currency purchases, and wire the funds on appropriate due dates.
8. Carry out special projects and roles in conjunction with Accounting Management:
Assist Accounting Management with research projects.
Work as administrator for IES corporate credit cards.
Maintain additions, deletions, revisions of card holders.
Investigate and resolve any cardholder issues.
Prepare spreadsheets for various reports.
Prepare Chicago inventory of assets.
Manage and track Center inventory records.
Conduct the inventory of corporate physical assets at headquarters.
9. Handle various administrative tasks for Accounting Management:
Liaise with banks and vendors.
Manage signatory changes.
Open/close bank accounts.
Wire transfers to vendors and company branches.
Maintain and edit vendor files, including 1099 information.
File periodic state registrations.
Maintain files and records in manual and electronic format.
Assist in various projects using Excel, Word, or Power Point.
Assist Accounting Management with the dissemination of information for company-wide controls.
Assist others staff in the department with routine tasks.
Tracking responses and compliance with Centers and preparing the follow up emails.
10. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position
Experience & Qualifications/Skills:
Requirements:
Minimum 1-5 years of experience working in similar role or Accounting position, public accounting experience a plus.
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects
Higher education or study abroad experience helpful, but not necessary
Strong computer and Accounting ERP experience (Internet, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) (Workday ERP or Salesforce experience a plus)

CPA Certification a plus
High School Diploma Required.

Hiring Salary Range
$70,000- $100,000
