Accountant / Bookkeeper

Job Overview
We are a small 5 attorney firm looking for detail oriented, potentially long-term employee (departing person is moving after almost 20 years) seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accountant / Bookkeeper to join our team!

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account analysis, and account reconciliation to ensure data integrity.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliation regularly to verify the accuracy of financial statements.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes efficiently, ensuring timely payments and collections.
  • Conduct bank reconciliations using software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or Quicken to match bank statements with internal records. Advanced IT skills needed to interact with case management software and day to day interactions with support staff.
  • Prepare detailed financial reports and assist in financial report writing for management review.
  • Support payroll processing and ensure compliance with tax regulations and GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Assist with governmental accounting requirements and non-profit accounting procedures as needed.
  • Execute budgeting tasks, analyze account activity, and perform double entry bookkeeping to maintain accurate financial data.

Requirements

  • Proven experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP standards, governmental accounting, and non-profit accounting practices.
  • Proficiency in general ledger accounting, bank reconciliation, account analysis, and journal entries.
  • Knowledge of accounts payable/receivable processes and payroll management.
  • Ability to perform balance sheet reconciliation and account reconciliation accurately.
  • Familiarity with financial concepts, including debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, and financial report writing.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills; proficiency in 10 key typing is a plus.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate across departments and support audit processes if necessary. Pay: Up to $70,000.00 per year
