Accountant / Bookkeeper

About the Role

We are looking for a reliable and organized Accountant/Bookkeeper to manage the day-to-day financial recordkeeping for our real estate development company. This is a hands-on role well-suited for someone who thrives in a small to mid-sized company environment and takes pride in keeping the books accurate, current, and well-organized.

Key Responsibilities

The Accountant/Bookkeeper will handle full-cycle bookkeeping across multiple development entities and corporate accounts, including recording daily transactions, reconciling bank and credit card statements, and maintaining an organized general ledger. They will manage accounts payable — processing vendor invoices, coding expenses to the appropriate projects and cost categories, and ensuring timely payments — as well as accounts receivable, including tracking deposits, loan draws, and incoming payments. The role includes preparing monthly financial reports such as profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow summaries for ownership review. Additional responsibilities include assisting with construction draw packages and supporting documentation required by lenders, tracking project costs against budgets and flagging discrepancies, maintaining organized financial records and digital filing systems, coordinating with the external CPA or tax preparer at year-end, and processing payroll or coordinating with a payroll provider as needed.

Qualifications

Candidates should have ~5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, with exposure to real estate, construction, or property management preferred. Proficiency in QuickBooks (Desktop or Online). A solid understanding of basic accounting principles and job cost tracking is important, along with strong attention to detail, good time management, and the ability to work independently. An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred but not required — relevant experience will be considered.
