Accountant / Bookkeeper

Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accountant / Bookkeeper to join our financial team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a variety of accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance across all financial activities. Your expertise will help maintain the integrity of our financial records, support budgeting processes, and facilitate smooth payroll and accounts management. Responsibilities

  • Perform general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections.
  • Maintain and update financial software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Workday, ADP, Ceridian, Kronos, UltiPro, PeopleSoft, and Paychex to process transactions efficiently.
  • Conduct data entry with precision using 10 key typing skills and double entry bookkeeping techniques.
  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and applicable governmental accounting standards.
  • Assist with payroll management using systems like ADP or UltiPro while ensuring compliance with tax regulations and payroll laws.
  • Support internal controls such as SOX compliance and perform account analysis to identify discrepancies or irregularities.
  • Collaborate on budgeting activities and provide insights through financial analysis to aid strategic decision-making.
  • Maintain detailed records for non-profit or corporate accounting functions as needed, including tax preparation support when applicable.

Experience

  • Proven experience in accounting or bookkeeping roles within corporate or governmental settings.
  • Strong knowledge of financial concepts such as debits & credits, journal entries, and account reconciliation.
  • Hands-on experience with multiple accounting software platforms including QuickBooks.
  • Familiarity with payroll management systems like ADP or UltiPro is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of GAAP standards and government-specific accounting practices is a plus.
  • Experience working with public accounting firms or in non-profit accounting environments is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform detailed data entry, balance sheet reconciliation, and account analysis accurately.
