The Accountant, Commercial Finance will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring regulatory compliance, conducting due diligence for transactions, and supporting internal and external audits. This role is critical to maintaining the company’s financial health and upholding its reputation for integrity and accountability.
This role will be based in Pune, India and report to Senior Manager, Commercial Finance.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the company and Group, in accordance with Indian GAAP and IFRS.
- Perform account reconciliations and variance analysis.
- Prepare cashflow analysis for rolling 12 months projections on monthly basis.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Indian statutory requirements including Companies Act, Income Tax Act, GST, and other applicable regulations.
- Maintain and update compliance calendars and checklists.
- Liaise with legal and secretarial teams to ensure timely filings of annual returns, board resolutions, and director appointments/resignations.
- Support internal controls and risk management initiatives.
Due Diligence
- Conduct financial due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, vendor onboarding, and strategic investments.
- Review financial statements, tax records, and legal documentation to identify risks and liabilities.
- Prepare due diligence reports and assist in transaction structuring.
Tax
- Prepare and file direct and indirect tax returns (Income Tax, GST, TDS).
- Ensure timely payment of taxes and reconciliation of tax ledgers.
- Assist in tax planning and advisory for business units.
- Coordinate with external consultants and tax authorities during assessments and audits.
Audit
- Lead statutory, internal, and tax audits for Indian entities.
- Prepare audit schedules, respond to auditor queries, and ensure timely closure of audit findings.
- Maintain accurate and complete documentation for audit trails.
- Support group-level audit consolidation and reporting.
To succeed in this role, the candidate must have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from a reputable institution.
- Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent qualification (preferred).
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in accounting, compliance, audit and tax in India.
- Prior experience in due diligence and governance frameworks (would be highly advantageous).
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally, Oracle)
- Strong knowledge of Indian tax laws and corporate regulations.
- Familiarity with audit standards and financial reporting frameworks.
- High attention to detail and able to think analytically.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities.
