Accountant - Financial Clean Up Specialist

The Role We are seeking a detail-oriented, tech-savvy Accountant / Financial Cleanup Specialist to join our team. This isn’t a typical "data entry" role. You will be a "Financial Architect," tasked with diving into messy, disorganized accounting files and rebuilding them into accurate, audit-ready systems. You will be the primary point of contact for our File Cleanup Services, helping clients across the country regain control of their numbers. Key Responsibilities

  • Comprehensive File Reconstruction: Perform deep-dive reviews of client financials to identify miscategorized transactions, unreconciled accounts, and duplicate entries.
  • System Optimization: Realign Charts of Accounts for clarity and consistency across various platforms (QuickBooks, Xero, Zoho, etc.).
  • Financial Forensics: Analyze income and expense patterns to uncover spending leaks and provide clients with a clear picture of their cash flow.
  • Tax Readiness: Ensure all books are aligned with current regulations to maximize client deductions.
  • Automation Implementation: Set up and optimize automated bank feeds, recurring billing, and digital workflows to ensure the books stay clean.
  • Client Education: Translate complex financial data into "human" terms, helping business owners understand their reports and visual dashboards.

What We’re Looking For

  • The "Puzzle Solver": You enjoy the challenge of taking a disorganized ledger and turning it into a masterpiece of accuracy.
  • Software Expert: Proficient in QuickBooks Online, with a working knowledge of other platforms like Xero, FreshBooks, or Zoho Books. Experience with accounting migrations/conversions is a plus.
  • Detail Obsessed: You notice the $0.01 discrepancy and won't rest until the balance sheet matches the bank statement.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to explain "where the money went" to clients who may not have a financial background.
  • Tax Minded: A solid understanding of deductible expenses and compliance to help our clients minimize liabilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • 3+ years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or tax preparation.
  • Proven experience in "cleanup" projects or forensic accounting is highly preferred.
  • Comfortable working in a modern, cloud-based accounting environment.

Pay: $37.50 - $50.00 per hour
