Accountant I

Responsibilities

The Job

• Manage end to end process of vendor payments.
• Review and prepare bi-weekly wire payments
• General accounting, including maintaining the general ledger and chart of accounts and preparing journal entries as required

• Maintaining accounting records, making copies, filing documents, etc.

• Understand coding of invoices and how to enter into SAP.

• Thorough with statutory compliance of deducted and collected taxes viz Service Tax, TDS, Profession tax for timely payouts

• Review at month/quarter end requirement to accrue services or goods received but invoice not yet entered.
• Handling petty cash, preparing bills and receipts.
• Direct interaction with Bank for any statutory related payments.
• Complete ad hoc requests and perform other duties as needed with minimal oversight
• Be part of Audit in providing supporting documentation for AP related expenditures to external auditors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Business, Accounting or Finance
• 0-2+ years in accounting role

• Good written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and ability to deal with customers and external contacts.
• Proactive and well organized.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
• Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Excellent time management skills
