The Opportunity
Provide support through various avenues to ensure the financial matters of the credit union are handled correctly. Monitors general ledger and various financial records to ensure accurate daily processing and recording of negotiable instruments, electronic transactions, loan production, teller entries, and investment activities. Prepares journal entries to post settlements, adjustments, and periodic transactions to general ledger. Reviews invoices and employee expense reports for accuracy and creates accounts payable transactions. Processes checks and electronic payments. Conducts formal reconciliations of general ledger asset and liability accounts. Carries out wire transfers, prepares reports, and performs other duties as assigned in support of the operations of the Finance Department.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable & Disbursements Management
-
Manage the full accounts payable cycle, including receipt, coding, verification, and timely processing of vendor invoices.

Prepare, schedule, and process ACH and check payments while ensuring accuracy, proper approvals, and compliance with company policies.

Maintain accurate and organized financial documentation, including invoices, payment records, and vendor communications, to support audit and regulatory requirements.

Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies promptly and professionally.
General Accounting & Month-End Close-
Prepare and post recurring and ad hoc journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation.

Support the month-end close process by preparing accruals, reconciling accounts, and identifying required adjustments.

Reconcile general ledger accounts monthly to ensure accuracy, proper classification, and alignment with GAAP and internal policies.

Analyze financial activity to support accurate month-end and year-end reporting.
Treasury Support & Department Cross-Coverage-
Provide backup support to other functional areas within the Accounting Department during peak periods, staffing gaps, or special projects.

Monitor and reconcile ATM deposit activity, investigating discrepancies and preparing supporting schedules as needed.

Prepare and execute domestic and international wire transfers, ensuring proper documentation, accuracy, and adherence to internal controls.

Maintain detailed logs and records for all treasury-related transactions to support reporting and audits.
Education and/or Experience
This role requires Subject Matter Expertise and the ability to provide mentorship, guidance and training to other team members. While this level of expertise will generally be attained with a minimum of 2 years in a previous accounting/business office role and an Associate’s Degree in Accounting. Priority will be place upon the demonstration of the ability to meet qualifications without an absolute focus on duration of experience, in recognition that the attainment of such qualifications may be obtained at different paces by different individuals.
