Vacancies exists in the Office of Budget and Finance.

Examples of Duties

Under general supervision, performs comprehensive professional accounting and pre-auditing work.

  • Maintains a variety of accounts.
  • Prepares and analyzes complex accounting reports and financial statements related to accounts.
  • Prepares accounts for audits by internal and external sources.
  • Reconciles various general ledger accounts.
  • Maintains subsidiary ledger balances and expenditure activity status for County grants-in-aid.
  • Provides assistance and direction to accounting staff of grantees.
  • Conducts and participates in periodic audits of grant accounts.
  • Participates in closing procedures and other year end operations.
  • Prepares estimates and statements of account.
  • Prepares detailed statistical reports and analysis.
  • Participates in special accounting, financial, and procedural studies.
  • Assumes a strong knowledge of governmental accounting principles.
  • Processes journal and budgetary transactions.
  • Helps reconcile and manage activity processed through the county's point of sale revenue systems.
  • Reconciles payroll runs.
  • Assists the revenue and grants accounting units in performing their day to day operations as needed.
  • Works across multiple units within the accounting department.
  • Comprehends general and complex accounting principles.
  • Effectively assists in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial presentations.
  • Works with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assists in the completion of the annual financial report.
Examples of Other Duties
May train, lead, or supervise professional and clerical accounting personnel. May coordinate or supervise a specialized accounting function. Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in accounting.

Two years' professional experience in accounting or auditing.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with an A.A. degree in accounting.

Four years' experience in accounting, auditing, or bookkeeping, at least two years of which were at the professional level.
or
Possession of an accounting certificate from an accredited college or university.

Five years' experience in accounting, auditing, or bookkeeping, at least two years of which were at the professional level.

(Education in accounting beyond a bachelor's degree may be substituted on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of two years for the required experience.)

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in managing revenue and receivable accounting, including reconciling our billing system to the general ledger, preparing reports for the Chief Accountant, Deputy Director or Director.

Experience working in a governmental agency.

Proof of Licenses, Certifications and Education

Salary

Annual Salary review - Step increases may be granted on anniversary date based on satisfactory job performance
General Increases - Cost of living increases and adjustments may be granted as legislated.
Longevity Increases - In accordance with the specific pay schedule, a full-time merit or classified employee may receive a longevity increase, equivalent to one step, upon completion of a certain number of years of classified service with the County.
