The Accountant will be responsible for tracking, analysing, and reporting the costs of individual projects/jobs to ensure accurate profitability measurement, proper cost allocation, and timely financial reporting. The role focuses on monitoring project expenses, labor, materials, subcontractor costs, equipment usage, work-in-progress, and billing progress in coordination with project managers and operations teams.
Key ResponsibilitiesJob Costing & Project Accounting
- Maintain accurate job cost records for each project/job, including labor, materials, subcontractors, equipment, overheads, and other direct costs.
- Allocate costs to the correct project, cost center, work order, or job code.
- Review project expenses to ensure proper classification and supporting documentation.
- Monitor project budgets versus actual costs and highlight variances.
- Prepare job profitability reports and cost-to-complete analysis.
- Track committed costs, including purchase orders, subcontractor agreements, and pending invoices.
- Assist in calculating work-in-progress, accrued costs, and revenue recognition where applicable.
Accounts Payable & Cost Control
- Review supplier and subcontractor invoices against purchase orders, delivery notes, contracts, and approved job budgets.
- Ensure invoices are charged to the correct project/job code.
- Coordinate with project managers for invoice approvals.
- Monitor unpaid project-related liabilities and accrued expenses.
- Identify duplicate, unsupported, or incorrectly coded costs.
Billing & Revenue Support
- Support progress billing, milestone billing, or percentage-of-completion billing.
- Coordinate with operations/project teams to confirm work completed before invoicing.
- Reconcile project billing with contract values, variation orders, and approved claims.
- Track unbilled revenue, retention amounts, advance payments, and customer balances.
Reporting & Reconciliation
- Prepare monthly job cost reports by project.
- Reconcile job cost reports with the general ledger.
- Support month-end closing by preparing accruals, prepayments, WIP schedules, and project cost summaries.
- Assist in preparing management reports showing project margins, cost overruns, and pending commitments.
- Maintain proper filing of project-related financial documents.
Coordination & Compliance
- Work closely with project managers, procurement, warehouse, HR/payroll, and finance teams.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, approval matrix, and internal controls.
- Support internal and external audits by providing project cost schedules and supporting documents.
- Recommend improvements in job costing, cost tracking, and reporting processes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 7 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction, contracting, engineering, manufacturing, facilities, or project-based companies.
- Strong knowledge of job costing, cost allocation, accruals, and reconciliations.
- Good understanding of project budgets, purchase orders, subcontractor invoices, and WIP reporting.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting/ERP systems.
- Experience with construction/project accounting software is a plus.
Pay: AED10,000.00 - AED12,000.00 per month
