Accountant (Last-Mile Delivery Experience Required)

Role Summary:

An Accountant will play a key role in managing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting month-end close processes. This role requires strong technical accounting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to partner cross-functionally with operations, logistics, and leadership teams.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Prepare and review accurate monthly financial statements, including income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow
  • Lead month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring timely posting of journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
  • Record journal entries and perform detailed balance sheet and bank reconciliations; investigate and resolve variances
  • Maintain the general ledger by ensuring proper classification of transactions and consistent application of accounting policies.
  • Analyze delivery-related operating costs such as driver wages, fuel, vehicle expenses, maintenance, insurance, and third-party carrier fees; monitor trends and explain variances.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Assist with tax compliance, including sales/use tax, payroll tax, and coordination with external tax advisors.
  • Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes, systems, and internal controls to support business growth and efficiency.
  • Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting to support operations, budgeting, and management decision-making

Qualifications:

  • Chartered Accountant Certification or master's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • At least 3 years in in accounts receivable and payable functions
  • Logistics industry expertise is a plus
  • Proven expertise in a similar role, preferably within the logistics industry
  • Advanced proficiency in Office, accounting, and ERP tools, with strong Excel skills
  • Knowledge of invoicing and billing procedures, with the ability to interpret commercial and legal terms

  • Excellent communication and coordination skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
