Accountant to Accounting Manager/Controller

The Role We are looking for an accounting professional to join our founding team. Depending on your background and experience, this role could be an Accountant position or an Accounting Manager/Controller-level role. We will structure the position — and the compensation — around what you bring to the table. Tell us what you've done and we'll show you where you fit.

What You'll Do

• Reconcile credit card payments — high volume — to ensure accurate bank deposits
• Reconcile bank statements and maintain clean, accurate books
• Manage accounts payable including cutting checks to vendors
• Handle sales tax filing and payment
• Manage asset depreciation schedules
• Work daily in QuickBooks and Excel
• Learn and work in our rental management software — we will train you fully

For candidates with leadership experience: there is a path to managing the accounting function as Compass grows.

What We're Looking For

• Strong bookkeeping and accounting fundamentals — reconciliation is the core of this job
• Advanced Excel skills required — pivot table experience is a meaningful advantage
• QuickBooks experience strongly preferred
• Sales tax filing experience is a plus
• Asset depreciation experience is a plus
• Detail-oriented mindset — you catch what others miss
• Accounting Manager/Controller candidates: experience leading an accounting team and managing month-end close

Compensation by Level

• Staff Accountant: $65,000–$70,000
• Accounting Manager/Controller: $90,000–$100,000

Pay: $65,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
