Accounting and Payroll Manager

The Accounting and Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing the company’s accounting operations while managing payroll administration and related financial processes. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close procedures, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and delivering timely payroll processing.

The ideal candidate has strong accounting experience, solid understanding of NetSuite, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple financial functions in a fast-paced environment.

This is a hybrid role requiring periodic in-office presence, with flexibility for remote work based on business needs. Fractal has offices in Columbus and Dallas.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting and Financial Management

  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations including general ledger activity, reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations Lead month-end and year-end close processes
  • Assist with preparation of financial statements and internal management reports
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis efforts
  • Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and tax professionals as needed
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company financial policies
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting and finance processes and internal controls

Payroll Operations

  • Oversee payroll processing and ensure accuracy of employee compensation, deductions, and tax withholdings
  • Manage payroll-related journal entries and reconciliations
  • Ensure payroll tax compliance and reporting requirements are met
  • Reconcile payroll accounts, benefits, and general ledger accounts
  • Coordinate with HR regarding employee status changes, compensation updates, and benefits deductions
  • Support audits by providing payroll and accounting documentation Process Improvement & Systems
  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting and payroll processes
  • Implement best practices and system enhancements
  • Partner with HR and Finance teams to improve data accuracy and workflows

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance roles
  • Strong knowledge of accounting systems (NetSuite)
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and payroll tax regulations
  • Experience with general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA designation
  • Experience in multi-state and multi-site payroll environments
  • Experience in a high-growth or multi-entity organization Work Environment & Expectations
