We’re looking for an Accounting Apprentice eager to develop real-world accounting experience while contributing to a dynamic, fast-paced business environment.

Position Summary

The Accounting Apprentice will assist in daily accounting functions including data entry, reconciliations, payroll verification, intercompany billing, and preparation of financial reports. This position is part of a structured on-the-job training program designed to provide progressive learning and career advancement opportunities toward becoming a full-charge bookkeeper or staff accountant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Record and categorize daily financial transactions in QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise.
  • Assist with bank feed reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close processes.
  • Support accounts payable and receivable — including vendor bills, customer invoices, and payment applications.
  • Review payroll entries, verify payroll clearing accounts, and maintain payroll documentation.
  • Assist with intercompany billing, fixed asset tracking, and depreciation schedules.
  • Organize and maintain accounting files and source documentation for audit readiness.
  • Support the preparation of reports for management, tax, and compliance purposes.
  • Participate in ongoing training in GAAP principles, internal controls, and accounting systems.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; college coursework in accounting, business, or finance preferred.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and debits/credits.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy with high transaction volume.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with QuickBooks preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and grow within the company.

Training & Advancement

This apprenticeship includes structured mentorship and hands-on training in:

  • GAAP-based bookkeeping and financial reporting
  • Payroll accounting and reconciliations
  • Fixed asset management and depreciation
  • Sales and use tax filing support
  • R&D tax credit documentation
  • Intercompany accounting between related entities

Completion of the apprenticeship may lead to a permanent Staff Accountant position with increased compensation and responsibility.
