Accounting Assistant
Position Description
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt, Part Time (30 hours/week)
REPORTS TO: Director of Finance
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for recording and documenting the day-to-day financial functions of Blandford Nature Center as well as managing general administrative functions for the organization.
Core Responsibilities:
Bookkeeping:
Record daily transactions in QuickBooks accounting software
Enter and process payments from third party platforms
Process invoices and ensuring accurate billing and payment records
Communicate with vendors and internal teams to resolve billing or payment discrepancies
Process credit card receipts for reconciliation
Process bi-weekly payroll in computerized payroll system
Prepare cash/deposits/receipts for deposit
Maintain all accounts payable and accounts receivable files in accordance with document retention policy
Support month-end and year-end closing procedures
Assist with annual audit preparation
Administrative Support:
Coordinate copier/printer maintenance and office supply deliveries
Monitor and maintain office, kitchen and cleaning supply inventories
Support monthly all-team meetings by gathering updates from staff
Travel to post office to pick up mail. Process and disseminate daily mail
Complete a broad variety of administrative tasks for the Director of Finance
May run various errands to pick up or drop off business items or deliveries
Maintain strict confidentiality on all BNC related sensitive information
Required Qualifications:
Minimum one year of accounting related experience
Data entry accuracy
Ability to create and work within spreadsheets with formulas
Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial documentation
Proven mathematical and analytical skills for reconciliations and reporting
Organizational and time management abilities
Attention to detail in processing invoices and maintaining records
Excellent communication skills. Able to effectively interact clearly, concisely and professionally on the phone and in writing.
Excellent computer skills, including minimum of one year working experience within Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace
Desire to grow with the role
Criminal history background check is required
Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience
Proficiency with accounting and bookkeeping software such as QuickBooks
Experience with computerized payroll systems

Physical Responsibilities:
While performing the duties of this job, the staff member is regularly required to sit, stand and bend for extended periods of time. The staff member occasionally must be able to move up to 50 pounds.
