Position Title: Accounting Assistant
Department: Finance / Accounting
Reports To: Accounting Director
Job Summary
The Accounting Assistant supports the accounting department by performing a variety of clerical, administrative, and financial tasks. This role helps maintain accurate financial records, process transactions, and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Process accounts payable and receivable transactions
- Prepare and process invoices, expense reports, and payments
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
- Maintain and update financial databases and filing systems
- Respond to vendor and customer inquiries regarding billing and payments
- Support audits by providing required documentation
- Assist in preparing financial reports and summaries
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting procedures
- Answer and distribute all incoming calls, mail, and packages
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred)
- Basic understanding of accounting principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Desktop, SAP)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and navigate multiple systems at one time
Preferred Skills
- Experience in bookkeeping or accounting support roles
- Familiarity with financial reporting and data entry
- Ability to handle sensitive financial information confidentially
- Problem-solving and analytical skills
Work Environment
- In-person, office-based
- Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm, with possible overtime during busy periods (e.g., month-end closing, tax season)
Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour

- Accounting: 2 years (Required)
- QuickBooks Desktop: 1 year (Required)
- Finacial Reporting: 1 year (Preferred)
