Accounting Assistant

The Company:

MGM Energy is a contractor specializing in HVAC, plumbing, energy conservation, and electrical services. We also participate in the Energy Saving Assistance Program sponsored by Southern California Edison, Southern California Gas Company, Southwest Gas, and Bear Valley Electric.

Job Summary

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will support the accounting department by managing various clerical and administrative tasks, ensuring smooth financial operations. Your energetic approach and organizational skills will help maintain accurate records, facilitate communication, and contribute to the overall efficiency of our office. The Accounting Assistant will support our accounting and operations team, focusing primarily on accounts payable, inventory, clerical duties, and purchasing, while also providing additional support for payroll processes. The ideal candidate is organized, accurate, and comfortable working with numbers, vendors, and internal teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with data entry and bookkeeping tasks using QuickBooks and other accounting software to ensure accurate financial records.
  • Manage front desk responsibilities, including greeting visitors, handling multi-line phone systems, and providing excellent customer service.
  • Support office management activities such as filing, proofreading documents, and organizing files for easy retrieval.
  • Maintain organized records of invoices, receipts, and financial documents through meticulous filing and data entry.
  • Process vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner
  • Match invoices with purchase orders and receiving documents
  • Prepare and assist with weekly check runs and electronic payments
  • Maintain organized and accurate AP records
  • Assist with tracking and maintaining inventory records
  • Enter inventory data and reconcile discrepancies
  • Support periodic inventory counts and reporting
  • Assist with payroll data entry and processing
  • Help verify employee hours, deductions, and adjustments
  • Maintain confidentiality of payroll and employee information
  • Maintain organized filing systems (digital and physical)

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • 2 years of experience in an accounting or clerical role preferred
  • Experience with accounts payable and purchasing strongly desired
  • Familiarity with basic payroll support is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Proven experience in office administration or clerical roles with strong organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks accounting software is highly preferred.

Schedule:

Monday-Friday 7:00 am- 4:00 pm

Compensation:

$20.00-$23.00 per hour
