Summary
We are seeking an accurate and detail-oriented Cash Accounting Specialist to join our Accounting Department Team. This position will be responsible for processing cash receipts, which includes researching cash payments, reconciling accounts, and posting to the general ledger. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain accounting experience in the legal field.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform data entry for accounts receivable, and general ledger transactions using various accounting software. Reconcile accounts on a regular basis to ensure accuracy of financial data, including bank statements.
- Prepare recurring journal entries and provide information to Accounting Manager and Controller for month- and year-end closing processes.
- Conduct account research to assist in identifying discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
- Support budgeting processes and provide information as requested.
- Assist in preparing reports related to financial concepts such as debits & credits, double-entry bookkeeping, and recurring journal entries.
- Perform administrative tasks related to bookkeeping, including maintaining accurate records for firm.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Associate's degree in Accounting a plus.
Experience: Minimum one (1) year office experience. Type at least 50 wpm and 10 key by touch.
Skills
- Familiar with accounting principles and basic accounting standards.
- Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office Excel (intermediate level), Word (intermediate level), and Outlook. Experience with financial software such as Sage, Aderant and/or ADP a plus, but not required.
- Proficiency in data entry with high accuracy (10 key typing skills).
- Ability to perform account reconciliation and balance sheet reconciliation efficiently.
- Knowledge of accounts payable/receivable processes a plus.
- Good math skills and strong problem-solving skills with a basic understanding of financial concepts like debits & credits.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Good written and oral communication skills and ability to know when to involve manager or others in the Accounting office as applicable.
