Accounting Clerk

Overview

A busy Independent Insurance Adjusting firm is looking for a full time Accounting Clerk Team Member for 40 hours per week.

Duties

  • Perform data entry and maintain accurate records within various accounting software such as QuickBooks and internal software's.
  • Manage accounts payable (as needed) and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections.
  • Develop relationships with customers to facilitate collections efforts.
  • Support payroll management tasks; verify payroll data for accuracy.
  • Support internal controls and compliance procedures related to company
  • Research and resolve account discrepancies;
  • Depositing checks or issuing checks as needed.
  • Respond to accounting-related inquiries electronically or by phone.
  • Record and maintain all 1099 information.
  • Collect mail (as needed)
  • Work closely with superiors on all aspects of Payroll

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience working with accounting software such as QuickBooks
  • Experience with payroll systems and familiarity with payroll management processes.
  • Knowledge of accounting standards is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform detailed data entry with high accuracy (10 key typing skills and 60 WPM typing).
  • Familiarity with technical accounting issues including journal entries, account reconciliation, debits & credits, and double-entry bookkeeping.
  • Excellent math skills combined with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt quickly to various financial software platforms
  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter as this is a remote position.
  • Punctual and prompt.
  • Able to handle confidential information.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word and Excel, Adobe Acrobat) and have strong computer and business solution software skills.
  • Prior experience in AP/AR or small business accounting

Must be able to work office hours 9:00 AM-5:00 PM.

Experience

  • Accounting: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Microsoft Excel: 3+ year (Preferred)
  • Data Entry: 1 year (Required)
  • Accounts Payable: 1 year (Required)
  • Accounts Receivable: 1 year (Preferred, but will train)
  • Cash handling transactions: 1 year (Preferred)

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
