Accounting Clerk and HR Operations Coordinator

Location: Southeast Missouri
Department: Accounting / Back-Office Operations
Employment Type: Full-Time

We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Accounting Clerk and HR Operations Coordinator to support our construction operations. This position is part of the Accounting Department and works closely with project managers and office leadership to ensure accurate billing, proper job setup, and efficient handling of core HR administrative tasks.

This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced construction environment. Accuracy, organization, and follow-through are critical. This position does NOT include payroll processing.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Billing

  • Time & Material (T&M) billing
  • Small contract billing
  • Accounts Receivable follow-up and collections
  • Job setup in accounting/ERP system
  • Manage applicable tax exemptions

HR & Employee Administration

  • Set up and terminate employees
  • Process new hire paperwork (I-9, W-4, state forms)
  • Maintain employee records

Project & Office Coordination

  • Support initial project setup
  • Serve as liaison between Accounting and Project Managers
  • Provide accounting and administrative support to office and field staff
  • Open and distribute mail; maintain organized records

Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Comfortable working in a construction or project-based environment
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Organized, dependable, and deadline-oriented

Technical Skills

  • Experience with accounting or ERP systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel required)
  • Experience in billing and A/R

· Familiarity with job costing preferred

Experience

  • Construction or project-based accounting experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with billing and HR administration required
  • Payroll processing experience not required
