General Summary
Teneral Description
The Accounting Clerk is responsible for recording and maintaining client financial transactions, such as purchases, expenses, and revenue. The Accounting Clerk will record financial data into general ledgers, which are used to produce the balance sheet. The position requires knowledge of how accounts payable/ accounts receivable/ payroll processes tie into the general ledger, and a solid understanding of the disbursements and payroll cycles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintains an accurate record of client financial transactions by entering data from source documents into digital databases, spreadsheets, or other systems within established time limits.
- Compiles and verifies accuracy of information to prepare source data for entry into accounting systems.
- Reviews data for deficiencies or errors, making necessary corrections.
- Research and obtain additional information for incomplete documents.
- Generates reports, storing completed work in designated locations and performs necessary backup operations.
- Scans and print files, as needed.
- Responds to inquiries for information.
- Comply with data security and integrity policies and procedures.
- Communicates with client staff, and G&G staff in a professional manner in accordance with established style and format guidelines,
- Updates and maintains the general ledger.
- Uses knowledge of applicable laws to comply with reporting requirements.
- Prepares financial reports through collection, analysis, and summarization of data.
- · Interprets and applies accounting policies, rules, and regulations to all work to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
- Notifies Controller of any errors.
- Fosters positive working relationships between G & G Consulting Group, LLC, and client’s staff.
- Ensure proper coding in accordance with the Colorado CDE-18 chart of accounts.
- Assists with meeting other statutory requirements.
- Reconciles credit cards, researching and addressing credit cards issues.
- Assists with special projects assigned by the supervisor.
- Assists with maintaining vendors and producing annual 1099’s. and annual audit processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field, preferred.
- A minimum of 1 year’s relevant experience working in accounting and bookkeeping.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and critical thinking skills.
- Proficient skills in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
- Preferred experience with Charter Schools and/or Governmental Accounting.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to provide professional and courteous service.
- Must successfully pass reference checks and background investigations.
- Results oriented with ability to effectively manage projects and tight deadlines.
- Service oriented, collaborative approach has exceptional follow up and organizational skills.
