We are seeking a detail-oriented accounting professional to join our finance team in Sitka, Alaska. This is a full-time permanent position open to applicants across a range of experience levels. The title and compensation offered at hire will reflect the successful candidate's qualifications. This position is based on-site in Sitka, Alaska and is not eligible for remote work at this time.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
We welcome candidates who are eager to learn. For those early in their careers, training will be provided.
- Accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll accounting
- Fixed assets management and tracking
- Tracking and recording work in progress (WIP) activity
- General ledger recordkeeping and account reconciliation
- Supporting financial reporting and month-end close processes
- Other accounting duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Placement and compensation will be determined based on the following:
Accounting Clerk (entry level):
- 1–2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, or equivalent coursework
- Familiarity with basic accounting concepts and a strong desire to learn
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- High attention to detail and accuracy
Staff Accountant (experienced level):
- 3 or more years of progressive accounting experience
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Experienced in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll accounting
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- A bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is preferred but not required

Compensation & Benefits:
- Starting wage: $25.00 to $35.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
- A performance and wage review will follow the 90-day introductory period
