Job Title: Accounting & Compliance Manager (Part-Time)
Location: Charlotte, NC (Hybrid/Remote)
Compensation: $45.00 - $55.00 per hour DOE
Schedule: 20 - 25 hours per week
Role Overview
We are a privately held family business seeking a seasoned Accounting& Compliance Manager to safeguard our financial integrity. This role is not just about oversight; it requires a candidate with deep direct accounting experience who can navigate the complexities of multi-company/multi-state structures. You will serve as the expert bridge between our internal operations, our external bookkeeping firm, and the ownership team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Multi-Company Accounting & Oversight
- Intercompany Reconciliations: Manage and audit complex reconciliations across multiple business entities. Ensure due-to/due-from accounts are balanced and that intercompany transfers are properly documented and eliminated for reporting.
- Direct Accounting Management: Leverage your deep accounting background to audit the external bookkeeping firm’s work. You are the final line of defense for the General Ledger, ensuring accruals, depreciation, and revenue recognition are handled correctly.
- Odoo ERP/POS Ownership: Serve as the functional lead for our Odoo environment. Ensure that POS data from various locations and companies flows accurately into the correct entity’s ledger.
2. Revenue & Payroll Management
- Multi-State Payroll: Oversee payroll processing across our multi-state footprint, ensuring compliance with varied state tax laws, withholdings, and labor regulations.
- Revenue Integrity: Manage the reconciliation of multi-channel revenue streams (POS, online, etc.) and ensure the external firm records income accurately across different business units.
3. Compliance & Family Office Integrity
- Multi-State Nexus: Monitor and maintain tax and business nexus in all states of operation. Coordinate with the company’s tax CPA for annual filings.
- Regulatory Governance: Manage all business licenses, Secretary of State filings, and local property tax listings.
- Internal Controls: Establish and enforce strict financial controls to protect the family business’s assets and ensure operational transparency.
Qualifications
- Direct Accounting Background: Required. Must have a solid foundation in GAAP, specifically in a multi-company/multi-entity environment.
- Technical Expertise: Direct experience with Odoo is required. Must understand the "logic" of multi-company environment and POS modules.
- Experience: 10+ years in finance or accounting, preferably with experience in a family-owned or privately held mid-market business.
- Discretion: High level of professional discretion and the ability to work closely with business owners.
- Location: Charlotte, NC area preferred for occasional in-person strategy meetings.
