Accounting Manager
Full time – Hybrid – Cairo, Egypt
Main Job Purpose:
Manage the day-to-day accounting operations of the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development, including financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and internal controls. The Accounting Manager ensures the integrity of financial information and alignment with SFSD’s strategic financial goals, while upholding compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
Position Summary:
This position is part of the Finance & Operations Sector at SFSD, which oversees the Foundation’s financial health, operational efficiency, and compliance framework.
The Accounting Manager plays a central role in ensuring accurate, timely, and transparent financial management. This includes preparing financial statements, overseeing audits, managing cash flow, supporting donor reporting, and guiding the accounting team in delivering high-quality work that meets both local and international standards.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS and internal policies.

Analyze financial data and trends to support strategic decision-making.

Reconcile accounts, resolve discrepancies, and coordinate with relevant sectors.
Budgeting & Compliance

Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with all sectors.

Monitor budget vs. actual performance, flag variances, and recommend corrective actions.

Ensure compliance with Egyptian laws, tax regulations, and accounting standards.
Audit & Internal Controls

Maintain robust internal control systems to safeguard assets and ensure accurate reporting.

Support internal and external audit processes with timely documentation and responses.

Supervise and review audit deliverables to ensure they are risk-based, accurate, and high quality.
Cash Flow & Banking

Monitor daily cash flow and manage banking transactions.

Review and approve payment requests, ensuring budget alignment and proper authorization.

Maintain strong relationships with banking institutions.
Team Leadership

Supervise, coach, and evaluate accounting team members.

Oversee performance appraisals and development plans.

Recommend upgrades to financial systems for greater accuracy and efficiency.
Collaboration & Representation

Work closely with internal teams and partners to implement audit standards.

Provide financial data in coordination with MIS to ensure proper documentation.

Represent the Finance & Operations Sector in key meetings related to major projects.
Qualifications
Education
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.

MBA preferred.
-
CA, CMA, CGA designation or equivalent senior-level certification highly desirable.

CIA preferred.
Experience
-
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience.

Strong knowledge of banking/financial operations and risk-based auditing.

Excellent understanding of Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) standards.
