Accounting Manager

At Breck's Paving, we do more than lay asphalt. We build the surfaces that businesses, municipalities, and communities rely on every single day. Parking lots. Roadways. Site developments. The infrastructure that keeps Central Ohio moving.

We are a locally respected paving company with a reputation for quality, accountability, and execution. Our team shows up early, solves problems, and takes pride in doing things the right way.

As the business has grown, so has the need for strong accounting ownership. We are hiring an Accounting Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day accounting function and ensure the numbers are accurate, organized, and dependable.

This is a hands-on role inside an operating construction company. We are not looking for someone who only wants to review reports. We are looking for someone who understands how accounting supports operations and who takes pride in clean books, accurate job costs, and clear financial records.

Why This Role Matters

Construction is detail-driven. Margins matter. Timing matters. Cash flow matters.

Accurate job costing and clean books are critical to running this business well. The Accounting Manager will play a central role in maintaining reliable financial records, overseeing WIP and project reporting, and ensuring the accounting side of the operation stays tight and organized.

This position is about ownership and discipline. When the numbers are right and current, the business runs better.

What You Will Do

  • Own job costing, WIP tracking, and project-level financial accuracy
  • Oversee accounts payable, review vendor bills, and manage payment scheduling
  • Manage invoicing and accounts receivable to ensure timely and accurate billing
  • Participate in and help manage the payroll process
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure clean, timely reconciliations
  • Maintain strong internal controls and organized financial processes
  • Work closely with external accounting advisors to ensure accurate monthly reporting
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations

What It Takes

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Experience in construction accounting and job costing strongly preferred
  • 3–7 years of accounting experience preferred
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to operate independently and take ownership of results
  • CPA designation and QuickBooks Online Experience is a plus, but not required

Why Breck's Paving

For the right person, this position offers long-term stability and the ability to grow into broader accounting responsibility over time.
