Accounting Manager

<Duties>

  • Manage and oversee all aspects of corporate accounting functions, including general ledger accounting, financial statement preparation, and account reconciliation processes.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), and other regulatory requirements relevant to governmental, non-profit, or private sector accounting.
  • Lead month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliation, and financial report writing and interpretation.
  • Supervise accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely processing and accuracy in all transactions.
  • Conduct financial analysis, cash flow analysis, budget forecasting, and variance reporting to support strategic decision-making.
  • Oversee internal controls related to financial reporting and implement best practices for SOX compliance.
  • Mentor and develop accounting staff by providing guidance on technical accounting issues such as securities law, estate law (wills & trusts), or non-profit accounting standards.
  • Coordinate with external auditors during audits, ensuring all documentation is accurate and audit requests are efficiently addressed.
  • Utilize advanced accounting software such as PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar platforms to streamline operations.
  • Support regulatory reporting requirements by preparing accurate filings in accordance with legal standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the finance department to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

<Experience>

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
  • Extensive experience in corporate or public accounting with a strong foundation in technical accounting principles such as accrual accounting, double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits.
  • Proven track record managing complex financial statements and conducting detailed financial analysis.
  • Demonstrated expertise in SOX compliance, regulatory reporting, and internal control frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with financial software including PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero or similar platforms; proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential.
  • Knowledge of governmental accounting standards or non-profit sector regulations is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring teams of accountants or finance professionals.
  • Ability to interpret financial concepts clearly and communicate findings effectively to stakeholders at all levels.

Pay: $80,861.95 - $99,296.12 per year
