Role Description – Accounting Manager
As an Accounting Manager with Newport Renewables, you will be responsible for completing a variety of tasks that are critical to the operation and success of the company. You will be part of a growing team of enthusiastic and hard-working professionals, in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Strong data entry skills are required and background in the construction industry is preferred. NPTRE is seeking an individual with a professional demeanor who is detail oriented, with solid organizational and communication skills. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with the ability to multitask.
Responsibilities
Procurement & Accounts Payable:
- Oversee and ensure accuracy of accounts payable vendor invoice processing and vendor compliance, including tracking and requesting Certificates of Insurance and W-9;
- Oversee and ensure accuracy of company credit card receipt processing and reconciliation;
- Oversee and direct Accounting Assistant;
- Partner with Project Managers to resolve vendor issues and inquiries;
- Draft, send and track lien waivers related to subcontractor invoices;
- Draft Master Subcontract Agreements, work orders and lien waivers;
- Maintain project commitment trackers for Project Managers;
- Order materials and track deliveries as instructed by Project Managers;
- Process vendor payments weekly with cash flow lookahead (complete set to pay screen with Principal approvals, print checks and initiate electronic payments);
- Master Newport Renewables cost code guidelines and ensure all expenses are booked appropriately, as instructed by Project Managers
Revenue & Accounts Receivable:
- Perform weekly bank reconciliations;
- Deposit checks into the company’s bank accounts using remote deposit scanner or mobile deposit;
- Compute and send bi-weekly design build time and material contract customer billings, including compilation of necessary data and backup support;
- Prepare progress billings, time and material invoices, and AIA (American Institute of Architects) forms as instructed by Principal;
- Send weekly collections emails to customers with outstanding balances;
- Create windows & doors quotes as instructed by Principal
Financial Reporting:
- Perform monthly financial close and reporting to Principals (NPTRE Consolidated Income Statement and Balance Sheet, division income statements), including monthly journal entries such as depreciation, work in process, etc.;
- Perform monthly high-level review of receivables and payables, flagging issues/outliers;
- Perform review of general ledger for accuracy, booking accruals and adjusting entries as needed;
- Monthly state sales tax reporting submission for MA and RI;
- Remit monthly borrowing base certificate to BankNewport;
- Assistance with year-end financial statement compilation performed by CPA firm, taxes, and insurance audits;
- Ad-hoc financial reporting requests, cost analyses, etc. as requested by Principals
Required Qualifications
- Degree in business or accounting from a 4-year accredited college or university;
- 2+ years of related professional experience in the construction industry;
- Knowledge of construction job costing;
- ERP experience, preferably SAGE;
- Valid driver’s license;
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills;
- Strong basic mathematical and quantitative skills;
- Detail oriented, thorough, excellent organization and project management skills;
- Ability to multitask and work on several projects at the same time;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel;
- A desire to exceed industry standards and constantly improve;
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required
Compensation and Benefits
Newport Renewables is offering a competitive salary for this position based on the applicant’s experience, and is offering a monthly health insurance contribution (medical, dental and vision) and paid vacation, sick days and holidays.
Location
Newport Renewables is currently located in Wakefield, Rhode Island. This will be a full time, in-person position at our office, 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday.
