Accounting Manager

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee our day-to-day accounting operations while supporting key HR and payroll functions. This role requires strong expertise in QuickBooks Online and comprehensive knowledge of multi-state sales tax compliance across all 50 states. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and comfortable managing both financial and people-related processes in a fast-paced setting.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Management

• Manage full-cycle accounting operations including AP, AR, general ledger, and month-end close
• Maintain accurate and timely financial records using QuickBooks Online (required)
• Prepare financial statements, reports, and analysis for leadership

Sales Tax Compliance (Critical Requirement)

• Manage and file sales tax across all 50 states
• Ensure compliance with varying state and local tax regulations for B2B transactions
• Monitor nexus thresholds and maintain registrations as needed
• Work with external tax advisors when necessary
• Stay current on changing tax laws and requirements

Payroll Administration

• Process and manage payroll accurately and on schedule
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
• Manage payroll taxes, filings, and reconciliations
• Handle employee deductions, benefits, and time tracking coordination

HR Support Functions

• Support onboarding and offboarding processes
• Maintain employee records and ensure compliance with labor laws
• Assist with benefits administration and employee inquiries
• Help implement HR policies and procedures
• Partner with leadership on employee-related matters as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of accounting experience
• Required: Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online
• Required: Proven experience filing and managing sales tax compliance in all 50 states
• Strong understanding of B2B accounting practices
• Experience with payroll systems and HR processes
• Knowledge of federal and multi-state tax regulations
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA or equivalent certification
• Experience in a multi-entity or high-growth environment
• Familiarity with HRIS and payroll software platforms
• Experience working with remote or distributed teams

Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
