Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to lead our financial operations and ensure the accuracy, compliance, and integrity of our accounting processes. The Accounting Manager will oversee the daily operations of the accounting department in a high volume building materials business, ensuring the accuracy integrity of financial data. This roll involves managing the general ledger, overseeing month-end and year-end close processes, and maintaining internal controls. The ideal candidate is a detail-orietated leader who can translate complex financial data into actionable insights for the leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
- Accounts Receivable & Daily Sales: Reconcile daily cash, checks, and credit card payments from the retail counter. Match "pick tickets" (delivery/pickup slips) with final invoices to ensure accurate customer billing.
- Accounts Payable: Review and process high volumes of inventory invoices from lumber suppliers and non-inventory bills for store operations.
- Pricing and Inventory Management: Maintain product information in the system, ensuring UPC codes, box quantities and manufacturer price updates are accurate so customers receive correct pricing and discounts.
- Vendor Relations: Research and resolve discrepencies regarding credits, shipping issues or pricing with suppliers.
- General Ledger & Reporting: Post business transactions to subsidiary accounts and summarize them for the general ledger. Assist in preparing monthlly financial reports like Profit & Loss statements for management.
Skills and Requirements
- Industry Experience: Familiarity with construction or building material accounting-such as job costing and tracking mechanic liens is a plus.
- Software Proficiency: Develop and maintain and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual cost making use of current technology.
- Organization Skills: Must be able to handle a fast-paced environment especially during peak building season (Sprin/Summer), while maintaining high accuracy in financial records.
- Supportive office team: The role is usually office-based with standard business hours.
Pay: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
