Job Title: Accounting Manager (Sole Finance Role)Position Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and hands-on Accounting Manager to independently manage all financial operations of the company. This role is responsible for overseeing the full accounting cycle, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, sales tax, financial reporting, and audit preparation.
As the sole finance team member, this individual will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and providing timely financial insights to ownership to support business decisions.
Key ResponsibilitiesFull-Cycle Accounting
- Manage all daily accounting operations
- Maintain general ledger and ensure accuracy of financial records
- Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations
- Record and categorize all financial transactions
Accounts Payable (AP)
- Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payments
- Manage vendor relationships
- Monitor cash flow for outgoing payments
Accounts Receivable (AR) / Invoicing
- Create and send customer invoices
- Track outstanding balances and aging reports
- Follow up on overdue accounts and coordinate collections when needed
- Communicate with customers regarding account status and payment arrangements
Payroll
- Process payroll accurately and on schedule
- Ensure compliance with payroll tax regulations
- Maintain employee payroll records
Sales Tax & Compliance
- Calculate, file, and remit sales tax (monthly/quarterly as required)
- Maintain compliance with Texas Comptroller requirements
- Reconcile sales tax accounts
Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly profit & loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports
- Provide financial summaries to ownership
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting
Audit & Tax Support
- Prepare documentation for CPA and external audits
- Assist with tax filings and year-end close
- Ensure records are organized and audit-ready
Process & Systems Management
- Maintain and improve accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks or similar)
- Implement efficient workflows for invoicing, payments, and reporting
- Recommend improvements to financial processes
Qualifications
- 1–3+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience (small business preferred)
- Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting
- Experience with payroll processing and sales tax filings (Texas experience preferred)
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, or similar)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred Skills
- Experience in construction, wholesale, or distribution industries
- Knowledge of inventory or job costing (if applicable)
- Experience handling collections / customer follow-ups
- CPA-track experience or degree in Accounting/Finance
Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
