Accounting Manager

Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to lead our financial operations and ensure the accuracy, compliance, and integrity of our accounting processes. In this pivotal role, you will oversee a team of accounting professionals, manage complex financial reporting, and ensure adherence to regulatory standards. Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation, analysis, and interpretation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory standards.
  • Oversee general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliation to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections while maintaining compliance with internal policies.
  • Conduct detailed financial analysis including cash flow analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to inform strategic planning.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and implement effective internal controls to safeguard assets.
  • Supervise regulatory reporting requirements related to governmental accounting standards and securities law where applicable.
  • Mentor and develop accounting staff by providing guidance on technical accounting issues such as LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), non-profit accounting practices, and complex tax scenarios including wills, trusts & estate law.
  • Support audits by preparing audit schedules, coordinating with external auditors, and ensuring audit readiness.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial software such as Sage, Xero, and other accounting tools to streamline workflows.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on financial report writing, financial management strategies, and general ledger reconciliation activities.

Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of GAAP, SOX compliance requirements, and regulatory reporting standards.
  • Strong technical accounting skills including double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, account analysis, and account reconciliation.
  • Proficiency with accounting software such as Sage, Xero or similar platforms; experience with financial software integration is a plus.
  • Demonstrated expertise in governmental accounting practices as well as non-profit sector financial management.
  • Experience with LIHTC programs or securities law is advantageous for navigating specialized compliance environments.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data for reporting purposes.
  • Proven leadership capabilities in mentoring teams while fostering a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement.
  • Strong understanding of tax experience related to corporate finance or private equity investments is desirable.

Pay: $62,029.46 - $100,000.00 per year
