The Opportunity
We are seeking a high-impact Accounting Manager to take ownership of the company’s month-end close and balance sheet integrity.
This role is designed for someone who moves beyond execution and into ownership, leadership, and accountability. You will be responsible for ensuring that financial results are accurate, reconciled, and clearly understood—while driving process improvements that enable the finance function to scale.
You will serve as the primary owner of the monthly close process, acting as the Controller’s right hand and ensuring the accounting team operates efficiently, proactively, and with a high standard of quality.
This is a high-visibility role with direct interaction with senior leadership and cross-functional partners.

What You’ll Own
Month-End Close & Financial Integrity (Primary Responsibility)
- Own and drive the monthly close process with a hard close date of the 25th
- Manage the close calendar, deadlines, and team accountability
- Ensure all journal entries and reconciliations are complete, accurate, and timely
- Review and approve key journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
Ensure all reconciliations clearly explain:
o What the balance represents
o Why items remain outstanding
o When items will clear
- Establish and enforce standards for reconciliation, quality and documentation
- Identify and resolve errors, inconsistencies, or unusual transactions

Balance Sheet Ownership & Analytical Review
- Own the integrity of the balance sheet across all accounts
- Perform and oversee analytical reviews to validate financial results
- Ensure all accounts have clear ownership and accountability
- Drive resolution of reconciling items and aged balances
- Partner with FP&A to ensure alignment between financial results and business drivers

Team Leadership & Accountability
- Manage and mentor accounting staff
- Hold team members accountable for deadlines, quality, and ownership
- Provide guidance on accounting treatment, reconciliation standards, and best practices
- Elevate the team from task execution to ownership of outcomes
- Create visibility into progress, risks, and bottlenecks

Process Improvement & Systems Optimization
- Identify and implement improvements to:
o Close process
o Reconciliation workflows
o Journal entry processes
- Drive standardization and automation where possible
- Partner on system optimization
- Ensure processes scale with company growth

Sales Tax & Compliance Oversight
- Oversee sales tax compliance process, including:
o Registrations
o Filings
o System accuracy (Avalara)
- Ensure correct product taxability classifications

Cross-Functional Partnership
- Partner with FP&A, operations, and revenue teams to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Support audit requests and provide clear documentation of accounting conclusions
- Translate accounting results into clear, actionable insights for leadership

What Success Looks Like
Within the first 6–12 months, a successful candidate will:
- Take full ownership of the month-end close process with minimal oversight
- Ensure the balance sheet is fully reconciled, supported, and understood
- Reduce the need for Controller-level review and follow-up
- Improve the speed, accuracy, and consistency of financial reporting
- Establish a culture of accountability and ownership across the team
- Identify and implement meaningful process improvements

Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 6–8+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
- Demonstrated experience managing and developing accounting team members
- Proven experience owning and driving the month-end close process
- Experience reviewing and approving journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
- Advanced proficiency in Excel
- Proven ability to hold team members accountable for deadlines, quality, and ownership required

Preferred
- CPA or CPA candidate
- Experience in fintech, payments, SaaS, or financial services
- Experience with systems such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar ERP
- Experience with Avalara or sales tax compliance tools
- Experience driving process improvements or system implementations
