Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our accounting team and ensure the accuracy, compliance, and integrity of our financial operations. Duties
- Manage and oversee all aspects of corporate accounting functions, including general ledger reconciliation, accounts payable and receivable management, and journal entries.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), SEC reporting standards, SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) requirements, and other regulatory frameworks relevant to our operations.
- Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, preparing accurate financial statements and reports for internal stakeholders and external regulators.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and account analysis to maintain precise financial records.
- Supervise the preparation of tax filings, regulatory reports, and support audits by external auditors.
- Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard confidential information and ensure adherence to compliance standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and cash flow management initiatives.
- Stay updated on changes in securities law, governmental accounting standards, and industry best practices to continuously improve processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; CPA certification is highly preferred.
- Extensive experience in public accounting or corporate finance with a strong background in financial statement preparation and analysis.
- Proven expertise in technical accounting areas including GAAP compliance, SEC reporting, SOX controls, and international accounting standards where applicable.
- Demonstrated knowledge of financial software such as Sage, Xero, or similar systems; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite—especially spreadsheets—is essential.
- Strong understanding of non-profit accounting principles (including LIHTC), governmental accounting practices, and securities law considerations.
- Experience managing accounts payable/receivable processes along with bank reconciliations and account reconciliation procedures.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately.
- Leadership qualities with a focus on mentoring team members in accounting best practices while fostering a collaborative environment.
- Ability to handle confidential information discreetly while ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
