Job Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Visibly support and champion Peabody’s Missions and Values
Exercise sound judgement to determine and apply GAAP to business situations
Coordinates the general ledger activity and makes all journal entries
Account for fixed asset and capital project systems to ensure that complete and accurate property records are provided monthly
Update the capital budgeting system with changes in timing and amounts, prepare monthly capital request for submission and assist in preparation of capital expenditures authority requests
Assists in preparing monthly profit forecast for the mine and prepare operating and capital budgets
Prepare account reconciliations, review costs for completeness, and evaluate reasonableness of balances to research and proactively resolve errors or reconciling items
Prepare cost variance analyses and promote cost controls and efficiency in conduct of business
Communicate effectively and coordinate with site personnel to ensure accurate reporting of costs
Become involved as a backup to various functions in the finance and payroll area
Review payroll related financial transactions
Recognize and communicate potential issues to the team leader
Any other responsibility as assigned.
