Job Description:

The Binghamton University Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation established to raise funds that further the purpose and mission of Binghamton University. Staff members and volunteers working on behalf of the Foundation, foster and maintain partnerships with alumni, parents, friends and members of the University community. In addition to raising and administering funds, the Foundation provides bookkeeping services to other entities on campus; processing deposits and disbursements. This position is within the Foundation's accounting services department. Responsibilities will include:

  • Data entry of vouchers, check production, check distribution, and uploading of online banking transactions.
  • Processing of daily deposits for all entities, including cash receipts, accounts receivable, and preparation of each entity's cash bank deposit slips for bank courier pick up. Checks are scanned and submitted daily to the bank.
  • Data entry of journal entries
  • Processing of new account forms and change forms for BU Foundation accounts.
  • Processing of student loan applications and repayments, including accounts receivable maintenance. Sending reminder/delinquency notices for past due loans and updating status in the University's Banner system.
  • Preparation of Foundation vouchers as needed, along with labels and annual voucher file folders. Coordination and maintenance of document storage.
  • General office responsibilities, including filing, ordering supplies and mailing of checks
  • Other duties as assigned and back up to accounting services associate

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in business, accounting or related disciplines.
  • Minimum of 1 to 3 years of cash handling duties and customer service experience.
  • Must be able to interact successfully with various campus constituencies
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to follow directions
  • Exceptional attention to detail. Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness, and monitors own work to ensure efficiency.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Blackbaud's Financial Edge or other accounting software will be considered advantageous

Additional Information:

Salary: $40,000 - $45,000 Annually. Full-time,12-month position. Please note, this position involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work and will require the incumbent to be onsite 100% of the time. Additionally, Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
