Hiring Range: $24.45/hour – $27.00/hour DOQE
($31.79/hour range maximum for future performance; Deputy Treasurer salary range is $69-89K)

Saginaw Charter Township, a municipality of approximately 42,000 residents, is seeking a full-time employee to fill the position of Accounting Specialist for the Township Treasurer’s Office. Saginaw Charter Township is the hub of Saginaw County, and an integral member of the Great Lakes Bay Region. Located in the heart of the Lower Peninsula, Saginaw Township is only a 30-minute drive from Lake Huron.
The Accounting Specialist will perform essential duties while assisting the Township Treasurer, and Deputy Treasurer. This position will focus on processing payments, investments and overseeing general operations of collections with the Deputy Treasurer. General operations include: working with various Township Departments to streamline tax processes; balances bank statements; addresses citizens in a kind and friendly manner; and assists residents with various troubleshooting questions. A key ability will be to demonstrate the ability to maintain organization during very busy times, and remain composed.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities for this position include: post-secondary education or training, with three years of accounting or bookkeeping experience (five years of relevant experience preferred); ability to gather data and prepare accurate records within deadlines; and the ability to establish and maintain excellent customer service.
You’ll work a regular weekday schedule, with a planned summer pilot program of 8am–6pm Monday–Thursday and a shortened Friday schedule, designed to enhance resident service while offering staff a condensed workweek.
