Seeking a Dynamic:
Accounting Specialist
For more than 50 years, Senior Friendship Centers has been making a difference in the lives of seniors in Southwest Florida. We are looking for a detail-driven and service-minded Accounting Specialist to join our team.
The Accounting Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions, including billing, reconciliations, and account maintenance. This role supports daily fiscal operations by processing invoices, monitoring accounts, and maintaining financial records in accordance with organizational standards. The position requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines. The Accounting Specialist works collaboratively across departments while maintaining compliance with internal controls and policies.

This is a full-time, Monday-Friday 40-hour-per-week position. This position will work everyday in our Venice Campus. Essential Functions:
Operational:
Generate and send timely and accurate monthly invoices to case-managed clients.
Generate and send timely and accurate monthly invoices to private pay clients.
Generate and complete monthly online billing for VA and MLTC clients.
Charge client credit cards for automatic monthly payments accurately and timely.
Follow up on delinquent or overdue accounts via email or phone.
Maintain aging reports and provide updates to management.
Maintain and update client information as received.
Prepare daily cash receipts for entry into the general ledger with proper account coding.
Provide donation and grant deposit information to advancement department.
Primarily responsible for monthly bank and investment reconciliations for all accounts.
Primarily responsible for recording of monthly in-kind entries
Record and reconcile prepaid, accounts/expenses
Perform internal control audits including but not limited to: cash collection, cash counting, petty cash, purchasing, and inventory.
Backup for Accounts Payable, coding expenses and completing check runs.
Other duties as assigned
Organizational:
Attend staff meetings, training, and seminars as required.
Must comply with all Senior Friendship Centers personnel policies.
Must protect the safety and health of staff, volunteers, participants, and others by observing and following the organization's safety and incident policies.

Education, Experience, Licenses, and Certifications:
Requires an associate Degree in Accounting plus a minimum of two years of accounting experience, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, ability, and skills to perform the essential functions of the job.
Intermediate computer skills are required.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, and have experience with database management and office equipment.
Physical Demands:
Prolonged periods standing, sitting at a desk, and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
Must be able to navigate various departments of a physical location.

Must have reliable transportation.
Travel may be required for administrative tasks.
A valid driver’s license and proof of insurance are required for all work-related travel.
Additional eligibility requirements:
Satisfactory clearance of a fingerprint-based, level II background screening and pre-employment substance abuse testing is required.
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
