Accounting Specialist

Position Summary

The Accounting Specialist supports core accounting operations for a manufacturing organization, with a strong focus on AP, AR, Order Entry, Inventory and Cost Accounting support. This mid‑level role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month‑end close, and partnering with operations to ensure proper financial reporting related to manufacturing activities.

Key Responsibilities

· General Accounting

· Prepare and post journal entries related to manufacturing transactions, accruals, and adjustments

· Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including inventory, WIP, prepaid expenses, and accruals

· Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes

· Ensure accounting activities comply with GAAP and internal controls

· Inventory & Cost Accounting Support

· Reconcile raw materials, work‑in‑process (WIP), and finished goods inventory

· Support standard cost updates, variance analysis, and manufacturing cost reviews

· Partner with operations to review production reports, labor, and overhead allocations

· Assist with cycle counts and physical inventory, including reconciliation and variance explanation

· Analyze inventory transactions and identify costing or process discrepancies

· Accounts Payable & Receivable

· Review and process vendor invoices, including matching to purchase orders and receiving documents

· Review and process accounts receivable invoicing and customer payment application

· Reporting & Analysis

· Assist with budget tracking and cost variance analysis

· Support internal and external audits, including inventory and cost‑related audit requests

· Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains within accounting workflows

Qualifications

· Required

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

· 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment

· Working knowledge of GAAP, including inventory and cost accounting concepts

· Experience with ERP systems, ideally Sage 300

· Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, analysis)

· Strong understanding of inventory flows and production processes

· Preferred

· Current working experience with Sage 300

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing office environment with regular interaction with operations teams
  • Periodic presence on the shop floor for inventory and operational reviews
  • Standard business hours with additional time required during close and inventory counts
  • On-site

Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
