Accounting Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Specialist to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing various accounting functions, ensuring compliance with financial standards, and supporting the accurate processing of financial transactions. Your expertise in accounting software, financial concepts, and regulatory requirements will be vital in maintaining the integrity of our financial data and supporting organizational growth. Duties

  • Perform general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account analysis, and balance sheet reconciliation to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections while maintaining proper documentation
  • Conduct account reconciliation procedures for various accounts using software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or PeopleSoft
  • Support payroll management activities by processing payroll using systems like ADP, Paychex, Kronos, or UltiPro, ensuring compliance with tax regulations and company policies
  • Assist with budgeting, financial reporting, and data entry tasks to support departmental and organizational financial planning
  • Ensure adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance standards during all accounting activities
  • Collaborate with internal teams on audit preparations, tax filings, and internal controls to uphold regulatory standards and best practices

Requirements

  • Proven experience in corporate accounting or governmental accounting environments with a strong understanding of financial concepts and accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or PeopleSoft
  • Knowledge of SOX compliance requirements and experience working with Workday or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
  • Familiarity with payroll management systems including ADP or Paychex along with proficiency in payroll processing and tax experience
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform account analysis, account reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation accurately
  • Excellent data entry skills including 10 key typing and double-entry bookkeeping techniques
  • Ability to interpret financial data using concepts such as debits & credits, journal entries, general ledger reconciliation, and account analysis
  • Attention to detail combined with strong math skills to ensure precise bookkeeping and financial reporting

Pay: $26.00 - $30.00 per hour

Education:

  • Bachelor's (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Accounts payable: 2 years (Required)
  • Accounts receivable: 2 years (Required)
