General Description:
The Accounting Specialist supports the Accounting Department in assisting with all aspects of accounting, customer service, transaction processing and reporting. Hands-on responsibility for maintaining accounts receivable and facilitating the sale of products to dealers and completing special projects as directed.
Specific Job Duties:
- Posts cash receipts, customer deposits, wire transfers, ACH payments to customer accounts
- Processes debit/credit memos and service charges to customer accounts
- Manages internal distribution of supplier and vendor chargebacks
- Execute journal entries, account analysis, and accrual-based accounting tasks
- Investigates and resolves invoice and payment issues
- Processes new customer credit checks and credit references
- Cross-trained as backup to billing, accounts payable, employee expense report, dealers’ spiff and rebate processing and general ledger maintenance
- Works with dealers/sales representative on billing, customer service issues, proof of deliveries, and past due amounts
- Send routine customer statements and initiate collection on past due accounts
- Develops and maintains positive working relationships with others to reach common goals and objectives
- Seeks continuous improvement in all duties and responsibilities
- Completes special projects and investigates issues as directed
Skills/Qualifications:
- College accounting and/or business degree
- 0-2 years of increasing responsibilities in accounting, financial management, record-keeping and reporting
- Flexible, detail oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent background in Excel, word processing, GAAP and financial analysis
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate to all levels of management and employees
- Experience with various types of software, hardware and ERP systems
- Team player and can work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
