This position involves meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service. This role provides direct support to the CFO in the execution of routine accounting functions. The Accounting Specialist will have experience with financial reporting tools including Unanet and Microsoft Excel. This position will be supported out of our Chantilly, VA office with a flexible hybrid schedule. The successful candidate will collaborate with various departments and contribute to the company's overall financial success with the following responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- Processing vendor invoices, employee expense reports, and accounts payable through Bill.com and Unanet.
- Creating and processing customer invoices accurately based on the products or services provided to clients, including SF1034/SF1035 generation and submission in WAWF in accordance with contract terms and requirements.
- Processing customer payments, applying payments to the appropriate invoices, and recording transactions in Unanet.
- Assisting in timesheet, labor review and payroll preparation on a monthly basis, including reconciling and preparing related journal entries.
- Completing month-end schedules, accruals, and adjusting journal entries (AJEs).
- Reconciling and entering bank, credit card and cash transactions and resolving any discrepancies.
- Maintaining and updating fixed assets and depreciation schedule.
- Maintaining open and effective communication with customers, providing assistance, answering questions, and addressing billing-related concerns.
- Assisting in audit, tax and projects as required.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be a US Citizen (Green Card is not eligible)
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- At least 1–2 years of relevant experience in the DoD or financial sectors
- Experience entering billing data into billing systems or software, including Unanet
- Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail
- Proficiency in financial modeling and analysis tools (Excel, financial software, etc.)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic government contracting environment
- US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance
Desired Skills:
- Experience working in the Federal sector, specifically in a finance, administration, or contracts role
- Knowledge of government contract regulations and compliance requirements is a plus

Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
